About This Product
- The PruFarewell plan is a whole life policy with benefits paid on death only of the lives insured on the policy.
- This plan gives you peace of mind as you can give a befitting send off to your loved ones.
- Minimum and maximum entry ages are 18 - 65 for the Principal Member and Spouse, 0 – 31 for children, 0 – 74 for Extended Family members.
- Minimum and maximum sums assured are UGX 1,000,000/= and 50,000,000/= respectively. These are applicable to the main member.
a. The spouse benefit can range from 50% -100% of the Principal Member Cover.
b. Children and Extended family members’ benefits are set at a maximum of 50% of the Principal
Member cover. - You are required to pay regular contributions (also called “Premium”) in advance to enjoy the benefits under this plan. You can choose to pay your premiums monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually.
- Your regular premium attracts a mandatory training levy of 0.5% which is further remitted to the Insurance Training College of Uganda.
- A waiting period of three months will apply from policy commencement for the principal member. A six’s months waiting period will apply for the children and extended family members.
- Once the policy has been in force for at least the first 2 years since policy inception, “the qualification period”, the policyholder may take a premium holiday at any time, may resume payment of premiums, and may even pay back outstanding premiums accumulated over the premium holiday at any time during the policy term.
- For policies that are under 2 years, a grace period of 6 months shall apply, and the waiting periods
mentioned in (7) above shall also apply on policy reinstatement. - Cooling off period is a period of time within which the life assured/proposer has the right to either cancel or alter the policy benefits such as sum assured, premium, etc, without any penalty. A cooling-off period of 30 days from the day of issuance of a new policy shall be allowed for the policyholder to qualify for a refund of premiums or alteration of the policy.
Policy Exclusions
a) Suicide and Self-inflicted Injury
The policy shall not cover suicide or attempted suicide occurring within two years from the commencement of the policy whether the life assured or beneficiary is sane or insane. Self-inflicted injury is not covered throughout the term of the policy.
b) Criminal Acts
The policy shall not cover any act committed by the life assured or beneficiary/beneficiaries which
constitutes a violation of criminal law.
c) Alcohol and Drug Abuse
The policy shall not cover abuse of alcohol, wilful inhalation of gas, wilful exposure to radioactivity, wilful
consumption of poison and overdose of drugs (whether the drugs have been prescribed by a medical
practitioner or not)
d) War, Riot and Civil Commotion (Non – Military Personnel)
Except for those deployed by the disciplined forces of the Republic of Uganda, the policy shall not cover
death of the Life Assured or beneficiary/beneficiaries due to war operations, whether such war is declared
or not, military action, terrorist activities, riots, strikes, civil commotion or insurrection in all cases as an
active participant
